A Legacy Of College Football

It’s Saturday and there is a big fight feel on campus. You wake up and immediately go into rabid fan mode when you start sifting through your college football jerseys. Yes, it’s the kick-off Saturday for college football and you are ready to go! Every fan has their own reason for rooting for a particular team. Although geographic location tends to breed fans for the local cities it’s not always the case in pro sports. Often a person has outside reasons for donning the colors of a team other then the one they grew up watching on television. It could be a fondness in youth for a mascot or team colors. It could be the star football player that was drafted to a team outside of your local market. Whatever the reasoning behind which professional sports franchise you root for it’s obvious that people have a million different reasons to explain why their fan-hood is better than the next persons. However, college football is a much different animal and fans of college football are ravenous fans that don their college football jerseys with a fervor that is unmatched in any other sport. They will paint themselves and wear nothing to a game other than a small thong. They will root in the face of all adversity with the same passion as they would if they were up by fifty points in the third quarter. Tailgating parties have been known to start days before the big game and end days after. It’s tradition and it’s a true battlefield of warriors that spans generations of athletes and scholars alike. Families go to college, not individuals. To clarify; generations tend to go to the same school so it’s easy to see how college sports can become part of a family’s DNA. They spend generations upon generations learning in the same hallowed halls and cheering on the same battered fields of glory. It’s no wonder that you see so many families passing down their college football jerseys to younger generations. You’ll see more authentic vintage jerseys are college football than you’ll see at any other level of sport. With this type of generational heritage it’s easy to see why college football has a die-hard loyal following that any other sports promoter would kill to have. When you wake up on that season kick-off Saturday you’ll surely feel a sense of ability. It’s an ability to cheer your team to the national championships. The ability to become part of a snapshot of history that will live on for all of history, as you become the elder sportsman and you indoctrinate your younger generation into the family fold. You’ll pass down your college football jerseys with pride and you’ll regale stories of when you were in those stands, cheering your team to a national championship. No matter which professional team you root for it will not compare to the passion that you’ll feel for the team that took you to new places as a younger college student. Those were the times of your life and the memories that will mean more to you than any professional ballgame could ever mean.

College Football Tickets a Brief History

College football is just nothing else but American football played by teams fielded by the American colleges. These include teams from American universities, as well as from military academies. College football is very popular among college students, and it is through the American colleges that American Football has gained the stature it has today. College football developed from Rugby, a form of football played in England. Rugby reached North America through the British soldiers stationed in Canada, and became very popular in Canadian colleges.

The first game of ‘football’ played between two American college teams – Rutgers College and the College of New Jersey – was not a form of Rugby but more akin to soccer. This game, which Rutgers won 6-4, was played at College Field in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on November 6, 1869. Rutgers College is now the Rutgers University; College of New Jersey is now the Princeton University; and College Field is where, today, the College Avenue Gymnasium of the Rutgers University stands.

The first ‘rugby-style’ game of college football in the United States took place in 1875, between teams from Harvard and Yale. The credit of fashioning the game of American Football from rugby, by 1892, goes to the one time captain of the Yale football team – Walter Chauncey Camp. The most significant person in the history of American football, Camp has rightly been called the ‘Father of American Football. ’

Camp pioneered the modern elements of scoring – at least most of them, the eleven man team, the traditional seven man line of offensive setup, the four man backfield, and the play from scrimmage. The college football became increasingly popular, and also more violent. After a series of player deaths in the collegiate games, Present Roosevelt, in 1906, threatened to ban the sport.

This caused the formation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which formulated rules to govern the game. It was during these days that college football was the predominant way to American football. College football was where style of play and strategy innovations were made and then passed on gradually to the professional arena.

College football remains very popular, despite the rise and popularity of professional football in America. It is more popular in rural areas, and in the south, due to the lack of professional teams there. College football is very popular in places, such as Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia, among others.

The Tickets

College football teams have as large a fan following as do the professional football teams, and their games draw more number of spectators than do the professional teams.

College football tickets are in great demand, and may not be easy to procure. You can safely forget to procure them from the venues of the games – they would be sold out. Your best alternative option – those ticket brokers. Legitimate and professional ticket brokers, such as have a successful history of helping you arrange college football tickets for the games of your choice.

How Much Do You Believe A Ticket For The Super Bowl Should Cost?

The price for a Super Bowl ticket is very expensive, even if you were to sit in the upper deck in the way back. On e-bay, I see ticket for Super Bowl XLI being sold at $5000 for two tickets (at $2500 each).
How much do you believe a ticket for the Super Bowl should cost for someone who is interested in attending the Super Bowl?
I think that purchasing tickets for the Super Bowl should cost no more than $500 per ticket. Tickets should start off around $100 for upper deck seats and should increase by how close you are to the field.

The Best Ways to Purchase Football Tickets

Football is a game that is famous all over the world. It is a craze among the football fanatics to procure football tickets and visit the stadium to watch their favorite game of football live. Others who are not so lucky watch it on television. Football or soccer is played at a professional level all over the world. It stirs up tremendous passion among its fans and among the nations. It is considered one of the most popular games among all age groups.

About The Game

Football is played between two different teams each having eleven players. It is played with a ball on a rectangular field having goal posts on both the sides. The main objective of the players is to take the ball into the opposite goal post. The more number of times you can maneuver the ball in the opposing goal post, the more you get to score. A referee supervises the game. The decisions taken by him are final. A single match is divided into two halves of forty-five minutes each. One player tries to prevent the ball from reaching the goal post. He is called the goalkeeper. At the end of the game, the team with the highest number of goals wins. However, if both the teams score the same number of goals then it is a draw. To resolve a draw, the duration of the game is increased. A penalty shootout is declared if the results continue to be drawn. Procuring football tickets for matches are a craze among the fans.

The game of football is supervised and governed by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The most popular football match held at an international level is the World Cup. More than 190 countries participate in it right from the qualifying rounds. The whole world is united during this time. The thrill can be seen in everyone’s face. The fans exult throughout the event. Then you must see the craze for football tickets for the game. There are various rules that govern the game of Soccer. The most common among them is that none of the players of either team is allowed to hit the ball with their hands or arms except the goalkeeper. The others can use their legs, head or any other part of the body excepting arms and hands to push the ball.

Procuring Football Tickets

It is very difficult to procure football tickets of any important match. Nevertheless, football fanatics are least bothered about the hardships. You can buy it from the stadium counter. However, that would require you to really stand and wait in long queues facing the extremes of weather. It would also include hustling and jostling.

You can even have the football tickets delivered at your doorsteps. You can simply relax and wait for the big day!

At long last: 2009 bowl projections

Here we go BCS bowl predection alredy?

The season starts in two weeks. There’s already been a 1-through-120 countdown here.

All that’s missing is the most frivolous of preseason escapades: Trying to project bowl pairings before a game is even played.

Still, it’s a slow day. Well, at least until Maryland’s scrimmage this afternoon tomorrow now that Maryland’s scrimmage was postponed. And in any case, this is something that won’t find any room in the dead-tree edition during our preview week (or so I am assuming).

Fortunately, that 1-through-120 exercise (tweaked slightly since it was posted in July and early August) provides a framework for choosing teams to fill spots. In some cases, there’s also an attempt to avoid sending teams to the same game in consecutive years.

So the real complaints should be with the rankings, since I’ll most stick close to them throughout this little endeavor.

OK, time to start with the five BCS games, then work downward based based on which game has the highest-ranked team in the preseason college football countdown.

* BCS title game (BCS #1 vs. BCS #2): Florida vs. Southern California.

The Blessed Tebow survives the SEC wars with only one loss — which allows the Gators to take a spot opposite the unbeaten Trojans in the national title game.

* Orange (BCS-ACC vs. BCS): Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia

If the Orange Bowl is going to get the champs from the ACC and Big East, it probably won’t do better than this matchup … well, ever.

* Fiesta (BCS-Big 12 vs. BCS): Texas vs. Penn State

First Joe Paterno will refuse to chat with the television rights holder before the game. Then his team will get hammered by a team that was a win away from playing for the national title. Sound familiar?

* Sugar (BCS-SEC vs. BCS): Louisiana State vs. Oklahoma

The Sugar Bowl could have brought Alabama back, but what do you bet the prospect of a similarly excellent bunch from Baton Rouge gets the nod?

* Rose (BCS-Big Ten vs. BCS-Pac-10): Ohio State vs. California

The Rose Bowl loves its tradition. So while California might not be as good as hyped, it could get an invite to Pasadena, a la Illinois two years ago.

* Capital One (SEC #2 vs. Big Ten #2): Alabama vs. Iowa

The Crimson Tide winds up in Orlando, and its horde of fans see a blowout. If memory serves, the last time Nick Saban was in this bowl, he bolted for the Miami Dolphins right afterward.

* Outback (SEC #3/4-East vs. Big Ten #3): Georgia vs. Michigan State

A rematch of last year’s Capital One Bowl, which the Bulldogs won 24-12. A similar result would come as no surprise.

* Humanitarian (WAC vs. Mountain West #5): Boise State vs. Colorado State

Northwest Arkansas Naturals Take Down Midland RockHounds 8-1 …

There are several ways to get tickets to see your favorite team or sporting event when they visit your area or even in a city across the country. Some ways include the old fashion way of standing in line at the box office, but some of the best ways are on the internet.

The first step is finding out when and where the event will take place. To find information on upcoming games there are several great sources on the internet such as espn.com, mlb.com, NFL.com, NBA.com and citysearch.com. Also many teams and venues have websites where you can subscribe to a mail list that will keep you up to date. The major box office websites such as Ticketmaster and Tickets.com are so have list you may join and do not forget the old fashion way of listen for announcements on your favorite radio stations. Many stations have online websites where you may sign up to receive email notifications of upcoming games.

Tickets for most baseball, basketball, football and hockey games are in high demand. Most shows sell out in a couple of days and some sell out in minutes. So how do you get the best tickets?

If the team  has a fan club, consider joining it. Many fan clubs will hold presales and make tickets available to club members first. Even this is not a grantee of getting the best tickets and you still may not get any tickets. Most fan club presales have a set allotment of tickets for any show, generally less than 10% of the ticket.

Radio stations may also sponsor presales for the show. Once again you will need to sign up for information at the stations website. Just like the fan club presale there are only a limited number of tickets available.

Many stadiums, venues and sports promoters also have special clubs you may join that give you the privilege of buying tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Once again only a small number of tickets are available to these members, so just being a member is not a grantee of getting tickets.  Also these memberships can cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars, plus there are generally additional services fees added to the cost of the tickets.

Another way of getting tickets is to buy season tickets. Many teams, stadiums and venues sell season tickets. This is the most expensive way of obtaining tickets. Season tickets can cost $5,000, $10,000, $12,000 or more due to the fact that you are buying the same ticket for every home game for your team.

If you had no luck getting tickets in any of the previous ways there is always the general public sale. You can find the date of this by the artist website or fan club, the theatre website, radio stations, newspaper. All remaining tickets, that have not been sold during any of the presales or given to radio stations for promotional purpose, will be sold during this sale. You can generally purchase ticket during this sale by one of three ways. You can buy tickets online, by telephone of at the box office or at a box office outlet. Tickets go on sale at all three places at the same time, and all three are selling tickets from the same pool.

So what to do if after all of this you still have no tickets because the show sold out to fast or you missed the sale. Can you still get tickets? Yes, tickets are still possible. There are five primary ways of obtaining tickets after a game has sold out, or getting the better seats. Ticket prices will generally be higher, due to the free market the holder of tickets may sell at any price they wish. This price is general determined by the popularity of the event, amount of tickets available and the demand of the tickets.

One of these ways is to visit websites like Stubhub that lets fans and season tickets holders sell their tickets. Be advised that Stubhub will add a service fee of 10% to the purchase price of the tickets.

Ebay also has a great deal of tickets being offered for sale. Once again these tickets are being sold by individuals who may ask any price the wish. Most tickets sold on Ebay are sold buy auction, where the price is determined by the highest bidder.

You may also check your local newspaper or online classified sites. Many of these have sections where tickets maybe sold.

Probably the best and most reliable source for tickets besides the box office is TICKET BROKERS. Ticket brokers like www.ticketcyclone.com, www.bestbroadwayticket.com/blog and have a large selection of tickets for you to choose from. Ticket brokers also have a well informed and trained staff that can assist you during your ticket purchase to ensure you are getting the best tickets for your needs. Also if any problems should arise with you purchase, they will be there to help and they grantee all tickets they sell.

The worst way to purchase tickets for an event is from a ticket scalper on the street out side of the theatre. There are many problems with buying tickets this way. One the tickets maybe counterfeit or stolen and you will not be allowed into the venue. Two, in many cities this is illegal and the person selling you the tickets may be an undercover policeman. In either way you will miss the game and maybe out of the money you spent to purchase the tickets.

Likewise buying ticket through Ebay like the classifieds have some of the same problems. The tickets could be stolen, counterfeit, or in the case of tickfast tickets sold to more than one person. In any of these cases you are going to miss the show and be out of your money with no where to turn because the person who sold you the tickets can not be found.

We hope that you find these tips helpful and enjoy the game!
